A day at the zoo never fails to impress this little girl. Karins favourites at Frankfurt zoo were definitely the baby llamas.

One year old and a great day to standup! Crawling is certainly a lot of fun, but nowhere near as much fun as walking!

As I am on the road again and Karin approaches her first birthday we need to chat once in a while. Here she is waiting for Dad to call.

Back in Mexico and a visit to Coba takes Karin up to the top of another Pyramid, with the usual disapproval of all around. This time she got to ride in the new baby backpack. She's a bit funny about getting into it but once there seems perfectly happy.

While travelling Liliana sends me pictures of Karin every day. We talk with skype and I get to watch the little one on the skype webcam to keep my sanity. This picture is the wallpaper of my laptop! I will be home very soon.

Happy New Year!

Trying to give an update on Karin's life, here is a little diary of Baby Karin in Puerto Aventuras.

October 11, 2005

Since our move from Mexico City to Puerto Aventuras in the Riviera Maya, Karin has come a long way, though I think we are all experiencing the benefits of clean oxygen rich air!

It's not all sunshine here though and if Hurricane Emily was not enough, last week we had to batten down the hatches again while tropical storm Stan blew in from the Carribean. While not a cause for great concern, it was Karins first experience of severe weather and a chance to wear her new raincoat.

It seems that our little girl is the star of this website, as I have been receiving many complaints that I have let this page go to seed. I apologize to everybody, but plead our move to Puerto Aventuras as a mitigating circumstance. From now on I promise news at least once a fortnight!

Anyway here she is, a lot bigger than the last picture, having her nails cut, and weighing in at more than 4.5 Kg. The multiple medicines for reflux have all been put away leaving a very healthy, though at times noisy little girl. Oh and I almost forgot.. Today she is 4 months old!

Karin made it to 2.5 kg last week, and so is allowed out into the big bad world at last. So far she has seen a few supermarkets where local busybodies delight in telling me that she is too small to be outside!

I don't think they would be at all happy to learn that she has also been to the top of the Pyramids Sol y Luna at Teotihuacan!

Well she's been at home with us for a week now, and we are nicely adjusting to a life of projectile pooing and sterilising. it's kind of tiring but certainly nowhere near as difficult as we were led to believe. It is in fact very rewarding and most of the time enjoyable.

Karin's Grandparents are here visiting from Uruguay. So everything is nice and cosy. Below is a picture taken a few days ago

30g more today, and a simple extrapolation suggests that maybe Karin will be home as soon as next Monday! Fingers crossed.

Today I got to hold my baby for the first time!!!

What an experience! She grew another 30g today making her weight a very cool 1.86 Kg. As she needs to reach 2Kg before we are allowed to take her home, you can imagine how delighted we are.

The other requirements that have to be met before we can take Karin home are that she is able to maintain her own temperature and that she is capable of feeding from a nipple. Currently she is in breast feeding training and doing fairly well though tends to fall asleep a little bit more than we might like. More news soon ...
