Toluca, Mexico - February 2005
I first visited Toluca soon after moving to Mexico City back in January 2003 and since then have only ever driven through.
Liliana had seen my pictures from the first trip and decided that she wanted to see the Cosmovitral, at the Jardin Botanico for herself.
Considered one of the largest artworks in the world, she was pretty impressed with the place!
If you visit you should also remember to pick up some of Toluca's famous red and green chorizo.
Typical colors of a Mexican town can be seen in the hillside buildings. A little sunshine makes all the difference.
The 3000 m2 of glass that makes up the Cosmovitral was completed in 1990 by Leopoldo Flores Valdes.
The stained glass in the botanical garden remains as impressive as it always was.
There is a pleasant tranquility to the gardens, enhanced by the hues of the 28 different colors of glass.
Toluca definitely makes for a nice escape from the madness of Mexico City.
