Acapulco, Mexico

August, 2000

A trip to Mexico City, presented an opportunity, to drive down through the mountains and torrential rain to the the 1950's paradise of Acapulco

Vague recollections of buying gas from from a man with no legs, the buzz of the Paladium and some weird place with girls on roller skates are about all I have from this trip.

Acapulco has not changed a bit since Elvis left, though looking at Ramon maybe he never left at all.

Acapulco touched me in a way I would never have expected. A little run down, a little cheezy but put together it makes for a unique location and a fantastic place to spend a crazy weekend with the boys.

A moment of quite reflection amongst the crashing pacific breakers.

The views from any high point point are all quite breath taking.

View of the bay from our room at the Hotel Presidente.

A visit to a Spanish fort .

Outside of the excessive drinking we took a boat tour around the bay. Very commercial, we were a little processed but nevertheless it really was a lot of fun. Here Erik and Ramon join in with some of the others on the boat with an exhibition of Salsa.

Thanks to Elvis, Acapulco is very well known for the young men who launch themselves from the clifftops into the crashing waves. It's an absolute 'must see' and as in this case not only limited to the famosu cliffs.

The boys together for a meal at ... hmm no idea
