Tula, Mexico Apr 2004

Tula, Ancient city of the Toltec civilization 65 km northwest of Mexico City.

Tula flourished from about 750 to 1168.

Toltecs who emigrated from Tula are believed to have settled on the site of the former Mayan city of Chichén Itzá on the Yucatán peninsula, where they put up buildings in the Tula style.

Very interesting site, especially to see the famous 'Atlantean' columns.

Flowering cacti were everywhere as we walked into the site. I in the pityard

A view of the site showing the columns that at one time would have supported the roof.

This pyramid has not been completely uncovered, which certainly adds to the mystery of Tula.

Another view on the temple platform

One last picture of the much photographed figures.

Now thats what I call a flower! I don't think this kind of cactus flowers to often, but when it does it really goes for it.
