Diving Veracruz, Mexico - June 2003

Following on from Liliana's PADI certification it was time to put it all together and do some diving in Veracruz. We were a little worried about a tropical storm that was moving in but ended up being blessed with flat crystal clear water and beautiful clear sunny skies.

Veracruz is a great place to dive and an interesting town with a lot of important history.

Luis here with a polysytrene cup that due to water pressure was supposed to be reduced to a minature by the end of the dive to 80 feet. unfortunately it stayed exactly the same! Well Luis insists taht it got a bit thinner, but I really was not convinced. Interesting though!

Liliana diving the clear tranquil waters of Veracruz at the top of the reef.

Diving Veracruz on calm days like this really is fantastic. Clear water and the only way to stay cool during the surface interval is to jump in. Just perfect.

When the weather is right in Veracruz, the surface intervals can be pretty tranquil. It really is nice just to bob about in the open ocean waiting for the next dive.

Myself and Liliana with me being probably a little too overprotective.

A fairly firm 'halt' signal newly learnt during Liliana's certification in South Florida.

Liliana and I did a shallower dive than the others, prefering to dive on our own playing around in the the sunlit warm water at the top of the reef. Here at the end of the dive Juan and Luis pass by in there group heading back to the boat.

Doggie Diver!

Juvenile yellow tail damsel fish. One day when I have a real camera I will try and capture the incredible beauty of the irridesent blue stars on this fishes back. I will never tire of seeing this fish.

As I rewrite this page in 2005 it's funny to see this stop. Lilianas diving has changed quite a lot since this! She used to like to hold hands on stops to be more confident with buoyancy.
