Diving, Ixtapa / Zihuatanejo - July 2003
All I know of the Pacific coast of Mexico is Acapulco. The only time I have ever dived in the Pacific was in El Salvador nearly 4 years ago until this time in Zijuatanejo.
The Pacific is everything you expect. Big rollers, stupendous surge and a feeling of the shear immensity of the ocean. Viz is pretty poor, marine life is less diverse than the the Atlantic or the gulf. But the Pacific is special, very very special.
'Ave Fenix', our Zijuatanejo dive boat for the weekend
Lilianas first Pacific experience. I personally love surge, but Liliana is still unsure.
More eco terrorism. I was waiting for the dive knife to come out to do the urchin fish feeding trick. Fortunately the divemaster didn't go quite that far.
Puffer fish recovering after some serious divemaster interference. Sad to see that this goes on still.

Swimming to the dive boat with my dry bag. This is the way all dive boats should operate!

Pacific starfish. One of thousands that carpet the rocks of Zijuatanejo bay.

...and again by night. The bay of Zihuatanejo is beyond the point.
